Profiling a horse involves a thorough examination and analysis of the horse’s physical characteristics, behavior, and overall health. In this clinic, participants will learn the basic concepts involved in equine profiling as key components of assessing the horse’s suitability for the owner’s choice of disciplines. Learn to evaluate the horse’s conformation, movement, and temperament which includes observing the horse’s response to handling, grooming, and other interactions with humans. Any signs of aggression, fear, or other behavioral issues can be noted and addressed. Examination will incorporate health and wellness evaluation including assessing weight, coat condition, hoof health, and any signs of illness or injury.
The profiling process allows us to better understand the horse’s concept of life and the horse’s abilities. This information is very useful in developing a training program which will best enhance the horse’s contentment, health, and performance.
